Hawzah News Agency- The ceremony drew thousands of Muslim faithful—men and women, young and old—comprising followers of Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H) from various parts of Nigeria.
For many years, the Islamic movement has observed the annual Arba’een commemoration in Nigeria following the completion of symbolic Arba’een treks organised across different axes of the country. The annual event marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) and commemorates the unparalleled tragedy that befell the Household of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) during the Tragedy of Karbala, following the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) at the hands of the forces of Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah (LA) in 61 AH.
The programme commenced with an opening supplication led by Sheikh Sidi Muneer Mainasara, followed by the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an. The first session concluded with renditions of Ashura elegies mourning the tragedy of Karbala.
The second session, which began after the congregational Zuhr and Asr prayers, featured a theatrical presentation by IM Production, portraying the immense suffering endured by the Household of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW). The performance depicted the ordeals of Sayyida Zainab (A.S), Imam Ali Zainul Abidin (A.S), and other members of the Ahlul Bayt (A.S), who were subjected to beatings, captivity, and forced barefoot marches under the scorching desert sun by the forces of Yazid ibn Mu’awiyah (LA).
The programme also featured a ceremonial Azah display by the Intizarul Imam Mahdi (AJT) contingent.
At the conclusion of the event, the Leader of the Islamic movement, His Eminence Shaikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), delivered a keynote address before bringing the 2026 Arba’een commemoration to a close with prayers.
